Headteacher job summary

Join Our Team - Headteacher Opportunity

We are seeking an inspirational Headteacher to lead our dedicated team and continue our journey of excellence as part of the Flying High Partnership. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate, innovative, and community-minded leader who is ready to build on our strong foundations and help shape the future for our “Haddoners.”

Haddon Primary and Nursery School is a vibrant, welcoming, and ambitious primary school serving children from 3 to 11 years in Carlton, Nottingham. As the only school of its kind in the local area, we provide seamless, high-quality education in a nurturing and aspirational environment; one where children are known, valued, and celebrated for who they are.

The newly appointed Headteacher will have the support to grow into this role, working closely with a local Headteacher who will be an integral part of the school in the first year and supported through an allocated member of the flying high education team. This role is therefore suitable to experienced Headteachers and those new to Headship.

Our next Headteacher will:

Live and breathe our DREAM values: Determined, Respect, Enjoy, Achieve, Make Memories

Be a visible, approachable, and values-driven leader with a clear vision for outstanding teaching and learning.

Champion our children’s individual strengths and needs, ensuring every child reaches their full potential.

Inspire and empower staff, driving a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and wellbeing.

Lead with integrity, warmth, and resilience—embracing challenge and celebrating success.

Strengthen our place at the heart of the community, building partnerships with families, governors, and wider networks.

What we offer:

Significant support from our expert flying high education team, and resources for school improvement to help you deliver your vision with confidence

Skilled, passionate, and caring staff and central team.

The opportunity to put your stamp on the school, developing the staff team and school vision in response to our strong and supportive school community.

A modern learning environment with extensive green space and high-quality resources.

A broad, rich, and inclusive curriculum with reading at its heart and a strong focus on English and Mathematics.

Excellent pastoral care and a culture where personal development matters just as much as academic success.

A comprehensive benefits offering, including retail and leisure discounts and access to an employee assistance programme.

A peer network of like-minded Headteachers.

Continuous Professional Learning (CPL), leadership development, and structured support and opportunity.

A partnership built on relationships and trust, creating a friendly, collaborative, and supportive ethos.

A comprehensive induction programme tailored for new Headteachers.

Recognition of the uniqueness of each school, encouraging local accountability and community-responsive governance.
