Becoming the founding Headteacher of Journeys Academy, based in Potter Bar, means more than simply leading a school - it means creating it. From shaping the ethos and curriculum to recruiting your staff team and establishing the culture, you will leave a lasting legacy for generations of children and families.

We are looking for a passionate, innovative leader with proven experience in special education to take on this rare challenge. If you are a dynamic senior leader who sees themselves making local decisions to meet the needs of children, whilst playing a positive role in our Partnership overall, then we look forward to receiving your application and joining us from January 2026 for a once in a career opportunity to shape, establish and lead a new school from the ground up.

Starting in January 2026, you will play a pivotal role in building Journeys Academy by:

  • Recruiting and inducting staff

  • Designing the curriculum

  • Creating policies and procedures

  • Working with Hertfordshire County Council and contractors to prepare the building
