Headteacher job summary
Icknield High School is a highly successful 11-16 mixed Academy with an excellent reputation, situated in pleasant grounds on the northern outskirts of Luton town.
Following the retirement of the current Headteacher, the Governing Body of Icknield High School is seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational Headteacher with a proven track record in school improvement. The successful candidate should have substantial experience at the level of Headteacher and/or Deputy Headteacher working in a large secondary comprehensive school serving a diverse community.
Key attributes:
- Have a proven record of leadership and management at a senior level with the skillset required to act as Headteacher of a single academy trust
- Can demonstrate a range of effective leadership styles to inspire and develop staff and students
- Have excellent interpersonal skills
- Have demonstrable success in raising standards and meeting challenging targets
- Be passionate about maintaining excellence in pastoral care and safeguarding as well as academic standards
- Be a versatile thinker who can look forwards and outwards to develop and champion innovative solutions
- Have a willingness to engage collaboratively across a successful partnership of local schools and beyond
The Governing Body would expect a candidate to be able to articulate a clear vision for the School as it faces the challenges of the future in an ever-changing educational environment. Icknield High School is a successful school currently operating at the Ofsted category of ‘Good’ with the potential to become Outstanding.
