Headteacher job summary
Loose Primary School is a vibrant, welcoming and ambitious three-form entry primary school at the heart of its community. Guided by the belief that “Potential is Limitless”, the school is committed to knowing every child as an individual and supporting them to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
Our mission is clear:
We care greatly and ensure the highest quality of learning and character development so that our pupils achieve well and become responsible global citizens.
This mission underpins everything we do — from early years through to Year 6. The school serves children from nursery (age 3) onwards, offering a strong foundation in early development and a broad, knowledge-rich curriculum built on high expectations, strong relationships and purposeful learning.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a large, established primary school with a strong reputation and clear identity — and to continue driving this mission forward with clarity and conviction.
The Role
As Headteacher, you will be the professional leader of Loose Primary School and the custodian of its mission and values. You will shape the culture, direction and standards that ensure the highest quality of learning and character development for every child.
Leading a three-form entry school requires clear strategic thinking, strong systems and the ability to develop and delegate effectively to senior and middle leaders. You will provide visible leadership while building organisational capacity, ensuring sustainable improvement from nursery through to Year 6.
In practice, you will:
- Lead the full age range of provision, including the on-site nursery, ensuring strong continuity and high standards from early years onwards.
- Embed and strengthen the school’s mission, ensuring academic achievement and character development remain equally valued.
- Secure high standards across all aspects of school life through effective delegation and leadership development.
- Shape and sustain a high-quality, inclusive curriculum.
- Foster a positive, calm and purposeful culture where behaviour, wellbeing and learning reinforce one another.
- Develop leaders at all levels, creating a strong and accountable professional team.
This is a role for someone who understands how to lead at scale — balancing visibility with strategic oversight and empowering others to lead well.
Working with Coppice Primary Partnership
Loose Primary School is part of Coppice Primary Partnership (CPP) — a small, values-led primary Trust rooted in its local communities.
Each school within CPP retains its individuality and identity. The Trust exists to support its schools, providing expertise, collaboration and shared capacity so that Headteachers can focus on what matters most: great education for children.
You will benefit from membership of the Executive Leadership Team and close partnership with the CEO and Director of Inclusion and Education, while retaining strong school identity and leadership autonomy.
CPP’s guiding question — “Will this give back more than it takes?” — underpins how the Trust works with schools and leaders.
