The Governing Board of Meadowhead Junior School is now in a position to appoint an inspirational, driven, and compassionate leader to guide our school community into the future following the retirement of the substantive. This is a unique opportunity to build on our strong foundation and lead our committed staff, enthusiastic pupils, and supportive parents and governors in striving for excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the school’s strategic development and maintain the focus on raising attainment and closing achievement gaps, particularly for disadvantaged pupils.
  • Champion a nurturing environment for all, ensuring that pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs feel supported and ready to learn.
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies and practices, maintaining the highest standards of pupil welfare and safety.
  • Develop and further embed strong SEND provision that are equipped to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Implement and sustain effective behaviour management systems to support a positive learning environment.

About You:

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and compassionate leader who:

  • Has the ability to inspire pupils, staff, and the wider school community.
  • Demonstrates expertise in developing and implementing effective teaching strategies.
  • Has strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead by example.
  • Brings experience of working with diverse communities and understanding the challenges facing schools today.
  • Is committed to promoting wellbeing and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Has extensive experience and knowledge of SEND provision and effective behaviour management practices.

Our school is a two form entry junior school with 230 pupils aged 7 - 11.
We are very proud of our high quality learning environment. We love our library which is stunning and makes us all want to read more and more. We have a wonderful playground which we constantly try to improve: football and basketball zones, tyre park, trim trail, gym equipment and a poppy shelter. We use our Forest School for lots of exciting activities : den making, wood whittling, mud sculpture, fire making.
Our children are an inspiration. They are well behaved and show responsible attitudes towards learning. They are proud of their school and are keen to take on responsibilities such as the School Council or Playground Leaders.
