What skills and experience we're looking for
The Governing Body of Nanstallon CP School is seeking an exceptional Headteacher to lead our small school into its next chapter.
We are looking for a leader who:
- Believes deeply in children, values people, community and the power of a rich and joyful primary education
- Places children at the centre of every decision
- Can sustain a culture of inclusion and care, and uphold high standards in learning, behaviour and conduct
- Values the whole child and the whole curriculum
- Understands that excellent education is seen in the quality of pupils’ work, the confidence of pupils as leaders, the strength of relationships, the richness of wider opportunities and the care shown in every part of school life
We are seeking a headteacher who will:
- Champion a child-centred and inclusive culture
- Secure high standards across a broad and varied curriculum
- Further develop project based learning and outdoor learning
- Prioritise wider opportunities such as swimming, gymnastics and cultural visits
- Develop pupils as responsible leaders of their school
- Maintain high standards of care, good manners and conduct
- Value the importance of environment, including sensory awareness, belonging and pride
- Communicate clearly and build trust with families, staff and governors
- Understand the distinctiveness of a small school community while remaining outward facing and ambitious
- Teach one day each week and lead with visibility, warmth and organisation
- Bring fresh thinking and new ideas while respecting and building on what already works well
