What skills and experience we're looking for

Newent Community School and Sixth Form Centre is a Single Academy Trust with over 1,000 young people aged 11 – 18. We serve our local area of Newent but also surrounding towns such as Ross on Wye, Ledbury and Newnham on Severn, as well as young people from Gloucester. Twenty five percent of our young people come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

We believe it is our duty to instil high aspirations in our young people and to equip them with the emotional and social intelligence needed to succeed in the future. We want to provide the very best educational experience within a caring and supportive environment. Academic results in recent years have been disappointing, but we are determined to turn this around.

Our priority is to appoint a high-quality individual, capable of leading effective school improvement with energy, passion and purpose. Working closely with staff, students, parents/carers, trustees and other key stakeholders, you will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of excellent education, which nurtures the minds and character of our young people.

You may be an experienced headteacher looking for a new challenge. Alternatively, you may be a deputy headteacher or head of school ready for the next step. Either way, you will have a demonstrable track record of successful school leadership and understand the complexities of leading a school in such a setting. We are looking for an emotionally intelligent leader with a track record of raising standards and a vision of “excellence” to lead us on a journey of improvement. If you believe you have the qualities we seek then get in touch.

What the school offers its staff

Access to high-quality, sustained professional development opportunities, aligned to balance the priorities of whole-school improvement, team and individual needs.
