What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking an exceptional and inspirational leader with a proven track record of successful senior leadership in a primary school setting. The successful candidate will be an experienced teacher who combines strategic leadership with a passion for high-quality classroom practice and is excited by the opportunity to lead whilst maintaining a significant teaching commitment.

You will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and substantial experience of successful leadership within a primary school.
  • A strong track record of raising standards and improving outcomes for all pupils through excellent teaching, learning and curriculum leadership.
  • Recent experience of teaching in a primary school and the ability to model outstanding classroom practice.
  • Experience of leading or coordinating SEND provision, together with a strong understanding of inclusive practice and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop staff, creating a culture of high expectations, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience of using data effectively to drive school improvement and improve pupil outcomes.
  • Sound financial and resource management skills, ensuring the best possible use of resources to support pupils' achievement.
  • The ability to build positive and productive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, governors, the wider community and external partners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to manage difficult conversations and lead with integrity, resilience and compassion.
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

As a Church of England school within Leeds Diocesan Learning Trust, we are looking for a leader who shares our values-driven approach and can articulate a clear moral purpose, demonstrating faith, courage and love in their leadership. Experience of working within a Church school and the NPQH qualification would be advantageous but are not essential.

This is a unique opportunity for a leader who is committed to inclusion, ambitious for every child and excited by the chance to lead a thriving village school at the heart of its community.

What the school offers its staff

As part of Leeds Diocesan Learning Trust (LDLT), you will benefit from being part of a collaborative family of schools where leaders work together to share expertise, provide mutual support and drive continuous improvement. You will join a welcoming and highly supportive network of Headteachers and Trust leaders who value professional dialogue, professional growth and collective responsibility.

We offer:

  • The opportunity to lead a successful Church of England primary school with a strong Christian vision and values.
  • A committed, talented and dedicated staff team who are passionate about providing the very best education for every child.
  • Enthusiastic children who are eager to learn and achieve.
  • Strong partnerships with parents, the local church and the wider community.
  • A supportive and experienced Local Academy Council and Trust leadership team.
  • Excellent opportunities for professional development, leadership growth and collaboration across the Trust.
  • Access to Trust-wide networks, specialist support and school improvement expertise.
  • A culture that prioritises staff wellbeing, inclusion and professional learning.
  • Membership of the Teachers' Pension Scheme and access to a range of employee benefits, including the Cycle to Work scheme.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and values-led leader to build on the school's many strengths and shape the next chapter of its development within a growing and supportive Trust.
