Headteacher job summary
Thank you for your interest in the role of Headteacher at St. Cuthbert’s Catholic Academy.
St Cuthbert’s is entering a brand new stage of its journey. The time is right for St Cuthbert’s to appoint a new Headteacher who will guide the school confidently into its next phase.
We are seeking an inspiring, values-driven Headteacher who can shape the future of St Cuthbert’s as a distinct and thriving primary school in its own right. This is a rare opportunity to build on strong foundations while bringing fresh ambition, clarity and direction to a community that is ready for its next stage of growth.
The successful candidate will bring strategic insight, a passion for high-quality teaching and learning, and the ability to nurture a culture where children flourish academically, socially and spiritually. It is an exciting moment to influence the school’s identity, strengthen its partnerships, and lead a dedicated staff team with purpose and confidence.
St Cuthbert’s is a happy and thriving place to learn, a place where we work closely with parents to achieve the best for all our children. At St Cuthbert’s we provide children with a sense of belonging to a loving community; enabling them to form positive relationships rooted in kindness, faith and forgiveness. We help remove barriers to inspire children to realise their full potential and develop future aspirations. This is the heart of our Catholic identity and is the basis of our children’s spiritual and moral education and our mission statement is: ‘In kindness and faith we belong!’
Our school is described as a ‘highly inclusive school which offers an excellent level of care to vulnerable pupils and families. Our children feel safe and know they are loved’. (Diocesan Inspection March 2025). Parental links are very strong, and our hardworking, dedicated team of staff and governors always have the pupils’ wellbeing, growth and development at the centre of all school decisions. Staff well-being is a key part of our success as a school. We feel strongly that a hard-working staff should be well supported and cared for to allow them to meet the demands made of teachers in a modern context.
This is a unique opportunity for an inspirational and forward-thinking leader to build upon the school’s strong foundations, uphold and nurture its distinctive Catholic ethos, and shape an ambitious vision for the future of the St Cuthbert’s community.
As part of the Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust, we work in partnership as one family of schools, whilst maintaining and celebrating the uniqueness of each individual school and the community it serves. We are a values-driven Trust. Our core values of Trust, Respect, Faith, Hope and Service are our hallmarks. These values underpin all of our relationships, between staff, pupils, families, our wider parishes and local communities.
We warmly encourage prospective applicants to visit the school to experience our wonderful school community for yourself.
