What skills and experience we're looking for

The governors are looking for somebody who;

  • Has a high aspiration for all pupils to reach their fullest potential academically, whilst also understanding and supporting their holistic development.
  • Will champion a curriculum that our teachers will be excited to teach and will inspire our children to learn.
  • Is committed to the school's inclusive nature and recognises the importance of meeting the diverse needs of all our pupils.
  • Has a secure understanding of safeguarding matters and advocates for the safety and welfare of all pupils.
  • Shall be committed to outdoor play and learning within the curriculum as is already fostered within the school through OPAL and Forest school.
  • Will be committed to working in partnership with other local schools and understands the benefit this brings to the school and the local community.
  • Fosters a positive learning culture and encourages continued further development of staff.

  • Is fun and wants to make the school environment a bright and happy one.

Mayflower Primary School is a medium sized school with an intake of up to 420 pupils spread across 14 classes, 2 per year group (currently year 3 has only 1 class) and The Cove. The school is set on an attractive shared site where the children have access to a vast playing field with outdoor play facilities, a woodland / wild life area used for outdoor play and learning and a separate large enclosed playground for the EYFS classes.

At Mayflower Primary we have high expectations of our pupils and teach a broad and balanced curriculum, whilst also embracing character education in order to ensure all pupils build character skills for life past school.

We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, welcoming children from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, cultures and with individual needs. Our commitment is to ensure every child at Mayflower Primary receives the support they require, so when they leave our school they have been able to reach their full potential.
