What skills and experience we're looking for
Discovery Primary Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, flexible and creative individual to work as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) across the academy working with young people within the age range 4-11. The post will require you to prepare, teach and assess the teaching and learning of pupils with SEND.
Discovery Primary Academy offers a specialist provision for catchment pupils across the primary age range who have been identified as having severe learning difficulties. Discovery encourages pupils to do the best they can to achieve their potential in a safe, supportive and calm environment by a team who supports them throughout their time here.
The ideal candidates will:
- have experience of working with children with SEND
- has a desire to help pupils with SEND achieve their full potential through helping delivering an adapted curriculum
- already have HLTA status or have the willingness to undertake the HLTA qualification
- be enthusiastic, confident and able to show initiative
- possess good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
- have a friendly manner with a good sense of humour;
- be calm and patient;
- show evidence that they can form positive and professional relationships with pupils, staff and parents;
- have good interpersonal skills and enjoy being part of a supportive team;
