The Discovery Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Higher Level Learning and Teaching Assistant to join our team of highly motivated professionals who are working collaboratively to raise standards and expectations at all levels throughout Key Stages 3 and 4. This is a fantastic opportunity for inspiring and aspirational individuals to join a creative, supportive faculty.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the education system; particular experience of working with learners with behavioural difficulties and sensory processing difficulties is essential. This will encompass understanding of behaviour management strategies and the ability to deliver personalised learning programmes to learners. Experience of SEMH, especially within a school or academy setting is essential.
The candidate must have excellent communication skills, and demonstrate patience and empathy in order to deal appropriately with sensitive or difficult situations with parents/carers.
The environment in which the role operates will demand that the post holder has the initiative and confidence to make decisions and solve problems themselves, but is able to effectively judge when to make decisions, consult with others or their line manager.
Our guiding principle is to ‘expect excellence’ in everything that we do. Every student is encouraged to achieve their best in the pursuit of excellence. Our strong ethos of pride and mutual respect, together with high quality teaching, ensures our students understand our high expectations for behaviour and have opportunities to excel in learning. Discovery Academy’s students leave as aspiring, motivated and confident young adults.
The Academy boasts outstanding facilities, a state-of-the-art learning environment and was judged ‘Good’ following an inspection by Ofsted in January 2019.
