Higher Level Teaching Assisant (HLTA) job summary
Alderman Jacobs is a vibrant and popular three form entry school with its own pre-school located in the market town of Whittlesey, just 6 miles from Peterborough. The school was rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted (March 2023) with inspectors reporting that ‘Alderman Jacobs is a welcoming and happy place where pupils enjoy their learning. All aspects of school life reflect the school’s values of energy for life, learning and the environment’. The school joined the Soke Education Trust in September 2023 and works collaboratively with Gunthorpe, John Clare, Northborough, Werrington and Wittering Primary Schools supported by an experienced and collaborative central team.
Do you have QTS or an HLTA qualification? Alderman Jacobs School is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our existing team of HLTAs to provide intervention support, PPA and absence cover.
This is a fixed term contract until 31st August 2026.
Hours of work: 30 hours per week, 8.30am to 3.30 pm (inclusive of an unpaid lunch break), Monday to Friday.
Term time 38 weeks per year.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a good educational background including 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade C or above including English & Maths
- A HLTA or equivalent qualification
- Recent experience working with children in a primary or secondary school setting
- An understanding of autism and/or working with children with social, emotional, mental health needs
- Is cheerful, resilient and enjoys working with children
- Is flexible and can adapt to the changing situations in a primary school
- Has experience in delivering learning to groups and whole classes across the primary phase
- Has strong behaviour management strategies
- Is a team player, reflective, approachable and kind
