Job summary

We are looking for innovative, inspirational HLTA who puts the welfare and progress of children at the centre of everything they do and are able to support our students in reaching their full potential.

Avanti House is a high achieving school where the behaviour and attitudes to learning, by all students are exceptional. Students have an established and meaningful ‘voice’ through the prefect system and school council. It is through working in close partnership with parents and students that the school has grown exponentially since its opening.

When Ofsted inspectors visited the school in April 2018, they reported:

The successful candidate for this post will require HLTA status.

The ideal candidate will be committed in working with students with a wide range of special educational needs including ASD, ADHD, hearing impairment, emotional, social and mental health need, together with an interest and considerable expertise in supporting second language learners. A caring, flexible and common-sense approach is vital as well as being pro-active and demonstrating a can-do attitude.

Due to the nature of this role, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. In making your application, it is essential you disclose whether you have any pending charges, convictions, bind-overs or cautions and, if so, for which offences. This post will be exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Therefore, applicants are not entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are ‘spent’ under the provision of the Act, and, in the event of the employment being taken up; any failure to disclose such convictions will result in dismissal or disciplinary action. The fact that a pending charge, conviction, bind-over or caution has been recorded against you will not necessarily debar you from consideration for this appointment.
