The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils who face social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) barriers to learning and to help lead our Learning Support Unit on a day-to-day basis.
You will:
- Provide pastoral support and deliver targeted intervention sessions.
- Mentor pupils 1:1 and in small groups.
- Support the ASDAN curriculum and supervise pupils not in mainstream classes.
- Assist with the development of individual plans and behaviour strategies.
- Work with staff to adapt learning, monitor progress and provide clear feedback.
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers and external agencies.
About You
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Experience working with secondary-aged pupils.
- Understanding of barriers to learning and how to support pupils with SEND.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Knowledge of the curriculum and SEND processes.
