Salary: Meridian Trust Grade 8, Points 19-24

Hours: 37 hours. 39 weeks

Are you passionate about making a difference in peoples' lives? Do you have the skills and experience to support teaching and learning at a higher level? We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant, to join our SENDV POD team. This is an exciting opportunity for a capable and experienced individual who will plan and deliver practical support, advice and guidance to vulnerable students with SEMH needs and their families, to support their academic, therapeutic and pastoral needs.

You will be working under the direction of the Vice Principal with responsibilities for Safeguarding and Pastoral care, and the Assistant Principal SENDVCo

  • Planning and delivering practical support and advice to vulnerable children and their families.
  • Providing valuable support to children academic, therapeutic and pastoral needs.
  • Ensuring the welfare of children attending the school, particularly focusing on children with SENDV.
  • Leading valuable training sessions for support staff to raise awareness of SENDV, particularly in the area of SEMH and current practices.
  • Lin-managing a team of Teaching Assistants

The ideal candidate:

  • Confident and resilient, patient and nurturing, with a strong desire to support our pupils to thrive and develop into successful young people.
  • Demonstrates excellent classroom practice with high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Experience supporting children in a classroom environment, including those with a range of learning needs or challenging behaviour.
  • Can act on their own initiative.
  • Is a qualified Level 3 or above Teaching Assistant or is willing to work towards this qualification.
  • Is a good team player who is willing to contribute to the ethos and wider community of the academy.
  • Is motivated, passionate, and reflective about their work.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues.
