Higher Level Teaching Assistant (ELSA) job summary
Faringdon Community College is seeking a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within the Special Educational Needs Department (The Bridge). The post holder will work predominantly with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties and support the SENDCo with the management and development of SEMH provision within school.
The successful candidate will lead on a range of interventions to support students with SEMH difficulties and ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant), both on a group and 1:1 basis, reporting to the SENDCo. The role involves liaison with outside agencies and teaching staff as well as meeting with parents and attending / leading identified TAF meetings.
This role will involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups in addition to monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting on pupil’s achievement, progress and development. Taking a leading role in the SEND review process for identified students. This will include developing and implementing individual education plans, assisting the SENDCo and Inclusion Managers with recording, sharing and monitoring.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people with SEMH difficulties in a learning environment and hold an ELSA qualification.
