Pilton Community College is looking to appoint an enthusiastic specialist SEND HLTA to develop one of its newest educational provisions.
Over the last 2 years we have been developing a range of enhanced onsite provisions that aim to support a particular area of need. This, our newest provision, caters for pupils with significant cognition and learning difficulties whilst providing them with access to a rich specialist curriculum within a mainstream setting.
You will be working with a small class of KS3 pupils, delivering literacy and numeracy teaching to them every day. You will assist the teacher to deliver some foundation subjects through ‘topic’ work for them during the afternoons. In addition, these pupils will have daily access to outdoor learning on our school farm.
The role is open to applicants from both primary and secondary colleagues who have the relevant experience to deliver the fundamental building blocks of reading, writing and maths. The young people in the provision are likely to be working at around KS1 levels for much of their time in school.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone to be innovative, dynamic, and to put fresh ideas into practice in this popular, thriving school. Our high expectations positively reinforce the highest standards of learning and behaviour at all times and encourage students to show respect for themselves, others, and the world around them.
The development of positive relationships and student ownership of all aspects of school life are essential ingredients that make Pilton Community College special. We have increased our links and collaboration with other schools from within Devon and across the country. A relational approach is at the heart of what we do as we believe this has a long-term impact on the success of all students from across our community.
