Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academy is a well-established autism specific school. Although our primary mission is to educate a large and mixed cohort of autistic children and young people in order to offer them the best outcome possible, Ormiston Kensington Queensmill is more than a school. We acknowledge the complex needs which are associated with autism, we celebrate our pupils’ differences and uniqueness and we put our children and young people at the centre of our practice. We believe that when autistic children and young people are supported to develop skills in social communication and in sensory/ emotional regulation, they will flourish in other aspects of their life and education.
We are seeking a proactive and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support the educational and emotional development of our students. This role is vital for implementing strategies that support pupil regulation and emotional wellbeing and enhance learning outcomes for students.
We are looking for an enthusiastic HLTA to complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of supervision in line with OAT policies and guidance. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/ groups or short-term for whole classes. It may also involve the monitoring of learners and assessment, recording and reporting on attendance, achievement, emotional regulation, progress and development.
It is vital that you have previous experience working in an environment with autistic young people as we are looking to appoint someone who is interested in developing their knowledge of autism and is passionate about supporting autistic pupils to access education both within the school and in the local community.
As a staff member, you will benefit from a highly collaborative, multi-professional environment, working alongside in-house therapists, parents, and external professionals. We are committed to providing extensive training, ensuring you are equipped to deliver the highest standard of support.
This is an incredible opportunity for a HLTA to make a difference and join a great team of people within a supportive and values-led organisation.
Our new colleague will also benefit from being part of Ormiston Academies Trust. Our vision is to create a school system where every child thrives, regardless of background. Our people are at the heart of our approach – they are our greatest asset.
We exist to provide the best learning opportunities every day, in every school for every child. It is the people and teams in our Trust who make this a reality and ensure we have the greatest impact. If you join us at Ormiston, whatever your role, your work will have purpose and meaning
