Higher Level Teaching Assistant. (HLTA) job summary

We are seeking a committed and skilled practitioner to join our team as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. We welcome applications from candidates with a Level 3 HLTA qualification, as well as those with strong classroom experience who would be willing to complete the training.

Our school community is wonderfully diverse, and no two days look the same. The role will involve supporting pupils with a range of SEMH and SEN needs across the school. This variety is one of the things that makes our school such a rewarding place to work. We are looking for someone who can adapt confidently to different situations, build positive relationships, and uphold our behaviour expectations with consistency and professionalism.

The right candidate will be resilient, positive, forward‑looking and enthusiastic about making a real difference. They will have the capacity to inspire, motivate and appropriately challenge children and young people, helping them to thrive both academically and personally. In return, you will join a supportive staff team who work closely together and celebrate the many successes our children achieve.

This is a flexible opportunity, and we are happy to discuss working days or part‑time arrangements for the right candidate.

We encourage you to read our AI Guidance, job description, and person specification before submitting your application

Visits are warmly welcomed and highly recommended; we’d love you to come and see what we do (Please note our school is closed from Monday 25th May until Friday 5th June for our half term break).

To arrange a visit, or for an informal chat, please contact Tanya Pitman (Office Manager) on 01484 310700 or tanya.pitman@ourladyoflourdesschool.org.uk
