What skills and experience we're looking for
Part-Time, Permanent, required for 1 September 2026, 27.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (5 days per week, term time only)

The Brittons Academy wish to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and high calibre HLTA who will be committed to supporting students with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability). The successful candidate will be a practitioner who is committed to helping students achieve their best academically as well as socially. Experience of working with children with complex needs is essential.
The successful candidate will have:
Experience of working with children with complex needs is essential
Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification is required
Effective communication skills
Ability to adapt or modify interactions to meet pupil needs
Ability to summarise and present information from observations of pupil performance
Effective time management, planning and collaboration
Ability to provide a structured activity within a group setting
Group dynamics and how to apply them
Obtain and interpret information on pupils’ literacy/numeracy skills, individual learning targets and specific support needs
Ability to recognise the range and implications of factors that impact pupil behaviour
Minimum GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
