Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with management responsibilities job summary

Location: Sacred Heart, Lumley Street

Duration: Fixed Term for 12 months with the possibility of being extended to 18 months (due to school operating on split sites temporarily)

Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm with 30 minute lunch break, Monday - Friday

In this role, you will carry out the full range of HLTA responsibilities, supporting teaching and learning throughout the school day, including intimate care.

In addition, you will take on the important role of Bus Lead, acting as the main supervising adult for pupils travelling to St Bernard’s in the morning and at the end of the school day, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and a calm, positive start and end to their day.

Our pupils have experienced a fragmented period of learning due to the condemnation of the school site and ongoing building works. Despite these challenges, our team has remained strong, supportive, and committed to providing the best possible environment for our children.

We are looking for someone who shares this commitment—someone who is proactive, caring, and passionate about supporting pupils to rebuild confidence in their learning and thrive.

If you are a qualified HLTA, looking to progress your career and make a meaningful difference, we would love you to join our dedicated and supportive team and help our children learn, grow, and prosper.

If you are interested in applying, please submit your application via MyNewTerm. If you have any questions about the role, please contact head@sacredheart.cumbria.sch.uk
