Pilgrim Primary Academy, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join the School Contract/Hours: Term-Time, Part-time, Temporary contract until 8th April 2022 . 14 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. Start Date: 28th February, 2022 (or earlier if possible) The Role: We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced HLTA (or teacher) to join our team of exceptional practitioners in our PPA cover team. The HLTA role will primarily be to plan, deliver and assess a specialist subject during teaching PPA cover sessions across the school. Predominantly, we are looking for cover to take place during the beginning of the week in the first instance. You will need to have an excellent grasp of behaviour management and be experienced in working with pupils from all Primary age ranges and with a range of specific needs. Please state the subject specialism you can offer in your letter of application which we would prefer to be either Music and/or Art. Main purpose of job ● Provide and deliver activities to whole classes of pupils when the class teacher is not present. The HLTA will plan, prepare and deliver lessons and assess, mark, record and report on development, progress and attainment. ● Support the subject co-ordinator to develop the specialist subject within school ● When not required to cover whole classes, to lead learning of small groups, pairs or individuals and to provide pastoral support where required through school. Specific duties ● Plan and deliver the planned learning intentions and evaluate and adjust lessons and work plans as appropriate. ● Select and prepare resources necessary to deliver the planned curriculum and manage the learning environment in the lessons they teach. ● Monitor and evaluate pupil’s responses to learning activities through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies against learning intentions, providing feedback to pupils. ● Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations working within our established positive behaviour policy ● Promote inclusion of all pupils within the classroom, recognising and responding to all special and individual needs Please note: the role is temporary in the first instance to cover a staff absence but could be made permanent in the future.
