Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Support Role job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a suitable individual to work within The Hessle Academy as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Hessle High School commencing Seotember 2002

At Hessle Academy, we think our learners are extraordinary. Each year they achieve outcomes that are consistently above the national average while regularly dazzling us with their talents in the Arts and Sport.

We couldn’t achieve this without our staff – our greatest asset. They are talented, professional, immensely dedicated to the success of our learners and committed to their own professional development.

At Hessle Academy, we value our staff and take their wellbeing seriously, with a commitment to reducing workload over the next three years, an annual staff Wellbeing Day and an active staff social committee. Consequently, Ofsted (September 2018) noted that, ‘morale is high’.

As one of the schools in The Consortium Academy Trust, we offer significant career development opportunities for our staff and we expect your commitment in return. We think our learners deserve it.

We are looking for people with a passion for providing a fully inclusive education to all learners within our school. The successful candidates will be dynamic and solution focused, individuals who can work effectively as part of a very committed team.

They will be driven to providing bespoke support to offer each pupil the opportunity to reach their full potential, both academically and emotionally. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are an absolute necessity. The ability to listen to and converse with pupils, parents/carers, school staff and external agencies is the key skill required to devise and subsequently deliver the appropriate support.

Attention to detail is required, as accurate record keeping must be undertaken. This must be supported by a very high standard of literacy. Basic IT skills are also necessary, although full training in school software will be provided. The position is working with KS4 alternative curriculum.
