What skills and experience we're looking for
The governors at Westways Primary are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated HLTA who is looking to join our fantastic school community. Ideally, they will be a dynamic and highly motivated team player who is ready for the next stage in their career. With support from our SENDCO, the role will focus on supporting and providing the day-to-day operation of provision for children with communication and interaction needs. The right candidate will help to secure high quality teaching and the effective use of resources to bring about improved standards of the achievement of all pupils.
Applicants will need to with support from our SENDCO, senior leaders and subject leaders:
Plan, coordinate and deliver timetabled intervention groups and classes as appropriate using reports from outside agencies and internal data to inform planning.
Deliver high quality learning activities to pupils and classes, adjusting learning according to pupil need.
Cover full classes across school outside of the intervention schedule.
Ensure effective systems of communication, including feedback to class teachers, about pupil progress and achievement to inform future learning.
Develop strong, positive relationships and open lines of communications with key pupils and their families.
Set targets for raising achievement for small groups of pupils.
Coordinate how support staff will be utilised on a day to day basis to best support the key pupils’ needs.
Work within an established system to promote and manage behaviour and relationships constructively, promoting self-control and independence.
Have a flexible approach to enable reactive working.
The successful candidate will have:
GCSE English and Maths Grade A-C (or equivalent).
HLTA status (or QTS).
Understanding of National Curriculum and the EYFS Framework.
Knowledge of how to support learners in accessing the curriculum in accordance with the SEND code of practice.
Be able to demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding.
