What is the job role?

We are searching for an enthusiastic and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant to complement the professional work of class teachers under the direction of the SEND Lead in school. You will primarily take responsibility for learning activities, under an agreed system of supervision, for our children with SEND. This will involve planning, preparation and delivery of learning activities for individuals and groups of children to enable them to succeed both academically and personally at school.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working within a forward-thinking team to deliver rich learning opportunities and exceptional care that helps young children to develop
  • Safeguard and promote the health, safety and welfare of children
  • Work in partnership with colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals to meet the individual needs of the children
  • Make accurate and effective use of assessment reflecting the needs, interests and stages of development of the individual children.

You will be a passionate HLTA with experience of working with children with SEND, who is committed to providing an exciting and inspiring curriculum for all pupils. You will be looking for a new challenge where you will be instrumental in supporting our children with SEND across the school.  

Who are we looking for?

Candidates should have:

  • HLTA standards for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Experience of working with children with SEND, challenging behaviour is also highly desirable
  • Experience of working in a primary school setting to deliver a high standard of care and education
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people/children
  • Kind, empathetic, patient, and resilient nature
  • Experience of planning and delivering challenging, engaging and enjoyable learning activities
  • An understanding of how to develop relationships with the children, enabling them to be comfortable in their surroundings
  • Experiencing of supporting parents and carers
  • Experience of working with wider professionals to support pupils
  • A commitment to professional development
