About this Role
We welcome applicants for the position of Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Behaviour) working within the SEMH pathway at our 2 site special school.
The expectation is that successful applicants would work towards the “Higher Level Teaching Assistant” Standards or equivalent qualification or be prepared to undertake the qualification.
The successful candidate will also take on an agreed area of responsibility based on your skills and experience and the needs of the department. An example would be leading on reading, phonics, PE, Cookery or Communication. These examples are not a complete list and the area you undertake can be discussed at interview and finalised when you start. Any area of responsibility will be under the supervision of the class teacher and/or member of the leadership team..

You will play a key role in supporting and implementing the school's vision for the SEMH pathway through delivering high quality teaching and learning approaches that are tailored to individual pupils and / or small groups of pupils with SEMH difficulties.
You will organise and implement interventions applicable to the pathway, however you may be required to work outside of your pathway.
Purpose of the Positions
To complement the professional work of Teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities, supported by direction from Teaching Staff. This will involve teaching to cover PPA, planning, preparing and delivering lessons and learning activities for individuals, groups and whole classes. Working with the teacher to develop and advise others on working with children within your pathway. Working closely with others within your pathway to establish a clear vision and plan for children within the class that supports their behaviour and learning needs.
It will also involve assessment, recording and reporting on achievement, behaviour for learning, progress and development. This may also include the management, support and development of other staff.
Hours: 8.30-4.30 Monday, 8.30-3.30 Tues-Fri,
Salary grade: L6 from £25,386
Attend 5 training days and Parents evenings
