What skills and experience we're looking for
The Arnewood Humanities Team work closely together to deliver exciting and challenging lessons across the geography, history and RE curriculum. The team are housed together in high-quality specialist accommodation.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated teacher of history to join our humanities department and teach the subject at all levels. This post could suit an ECT as well as a more experienced candidate. You will be working in a very cohesive and supportive department that is committed to providing an innovative and high-quality history education for all our pupils. We are looking for an applicant who understands that history is unique in the way in which it gives students a perspective on their place in the world. We require somebody who can stimulate an interest in, and a sense of wonder about, places and helps make sense of a complex and dynamically changing world.
The successful candidate will demonstrate: -
- a passion for history education with an excellent subject knowledge and pedagogical understanding, particularly of teaching humanities
- they are an excellent classroom practitioner, who is experienced in teaching history at key stages 3, 4 and, preferably key stage 5
- success in achieving consistently good results in history, at least, at key stage 3 and key stage 4, or as an ECT to establish this pedigree
- the ability to create and facilitate highly challenging and engaging lessons
- high expectations for all students whatever their ability and starting point
- aspiration to progress their career in the future
- they are optimistic, positive, and cheerful.
