HLTA job summary
Crowdys Hill School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning across the school. The successful candidate will be confident leading lessons, supporting student progress, and working collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
The HLTA will provide high-quality classroom support and lead lessons across a range of subjects. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure that students’ learning needs are met and that lessons are engaging, inclusive, and effective. Many of our students have a diagnosis of autism, so flexibility, creativity, and empathy are key to success in this role.
We are looking for a motivated and professional HLTA who:
- Has experience leading lessons and supporting pupils’ progress.
- Holds a relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is resilient, organised, and solution-focused.
- Is passionate about supporting students with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and lead lessons under the guidance of teaching staff.
- Prepare and implement differentiated learning activities.
- Support the learning and progress of students with additional needs.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals.
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, reporting to relevant staff.
- To undertake reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be determined in consultation with the members of the Leadership Team and Cover Admin.
