HLTA job summary

Work where it matters most, achieve what matters more

Be part of a team where passion meets purpose, as we work together where the challenge is greatest to change the lives and build the futures of children and young people.

At Ormiston NEW Academy we are seeking a committed, skilled and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team for 2 days a week to help us shape exceptional futures. As an HLTA, you will work closely with our SENDCo and teaching staff to plan and deliver targeted interventions, support inclusive practice across the academy, and contribute to the learning and development of students with special educational needs. This is a vital role within our inclusive education team – one where your support will have a direct and lasting impact.

This is a great opportunity for an inspiring and engaging individual who is looking for the next growth step in their career. In this role you will work in a friendly team delivering high quality support services to staff and students alike. You will be assisting in the support and inclusion of students with Special Educational Needs and Disability in the Academy whilst working with individual students who experience barriers to making use of the general educational facilities and who may need specialist support or equipment, and/or groups of children as directed by teachers, and Director/Deputy Director of SEND.

The HLTA will contribute to the planning and evaluation of interventions in line with the individual needs of the students, supporting the SENDCo with the assessment and identification of students with special educational needs. They will also promote, support and facilitate inclusion in order to ensure true inclusive practice is adopted and championed across the Academy.

Ormiston NEW Academy is a vibrant and rapidly growing school in Wolverhampton, rated Good by Ofsted and widely recognised for its clear pedagogical model, calm and inclusive culture, and consistent standards of excellence. The latest inspection report praises the school’s leaders for creating a "culture where positive behaviour and discipline are celebrated". Students at NEW Academy understand that they must try their best and strive for excellence at all times. In the most recent Ofsted inspection one student told inspectors, “I know that today will not be my best, because tomorrow will be better”.
