Salary: NJC Grade E: £30,518 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked)
Working Pattern: This is a part-time, fixed term position working 28 hours per week, 39 weeks per year until 31st August 2026 (8.30am-3.30pm Monday to Friday).
Pilton College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our supportive team on a maternity cover basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled SEND practitioner to make a meaningful impact on the learning journey of our students.
Role Overview: The successful candidate will deliver targeted literacy and numeracy lessons and interventions to small groups of Year 7 students requiring additional support. A key part of the role involves delivering the Lexia literacy programme, helping students build foundational reading and language skills. In addition, the HLTA will contribute to the learning provision within our Adapted Learning Groups and Gateway Specialist Provisions, supporting students with a range of additional needs. There may also be opportunities to support wider literacy development across the college.
We are looking for someone who:
Has proven experience working with SEND pupils in a secondary school setting. Demonstrates a strong understanding of early reading and language development. Is confident in delivering structured interventions and small group teaching. Can work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider inclusion team.
