The RoleWe are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with learners who require a highly personalised, therapeutic, and nurturing approach to education.
You will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, leading small group and 1:1 sessions, and helping learners re-engage with education in a way that feels safe, achievable, and empowering.
Key Responsibilities-
Lead learning activities for individuals and small groups under the guidance of the teacher

Deliver targeted interventions to support academic progress and emotional wellbeing

Build positive, trusting relationships with learners who may have experienced barriers to education
-
Support the implementation of personalised learning plans
-
Promote a calm, respectful, and nurturing learning environment

Monitor, assess, and record learner progress
-
Support behaviour through restorative and trauma-informed approaches
-
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, families, and external professionals
-
Contribute to the wider life of the provision and its community ethos

HLTA qualification or equivalent experience

Experience working with young people in alternative provision, SEND, SEMH, or similar settings
-
A patient, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Confidence in leading learning independently

Understanding of trauma-informed and restorative practices
-
A genuine belief that every learner can succeed with the right support

A supportive and caring team environment
