House Pastoral Assistant job summary
We are looking for a compassionate and proactive House Pastoral Assistant to join our Student Services Team. Working within the House System alongside the Head and Deputy Head of House, you will provide vital support to students’ social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and wellbeing.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with SEMH needs, possess strong communication and empathy skills.

Contract: Full-time, Permanent contract
Grade: H4
Hours: 37 hours per week across Monday to Friday, Term time plus 1 week
Core working hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (Mon to Thur) / 3:30 pm (Fri)

About St George’s Student Services Team
St George’s has a strong pastoral system within each house, led by the Head of House and supported by the Deputy Head of House, Tutors and House Pastoral Assistants. Student Services Team provide a safe and welcoming space for all students to access support for their emotional health and wellbeing at any point during the school day. Student Services are staffed by our House Pastoral Assistants and overseen by the Mental Health Lead and the Pastoral Support Manager. We have a range of services that we can refer young people to, including our School counsellor and mentors from Directional, DSPL7 (Delivering Specialist Provision Locally) and Links Outreach.

Interview Arrangement
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a face-to-face interview. In addition, candidates may be required to complete tasks specific to the job role.

If you are currently working in education, a reference from the Headteacher / equivalent person in Senior Leadership Team is required.
