We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and professional HR Administrator & Admissions Officer to join our busy school office. This is a pivotal role providing confidential support across both Human Resources and Student Admissions, helping ensure the smooth and compliant running of key school operations.
As a central member of the school office team, you will play an essential role in maintaining accurate HR records, coordinating recruitment activity, managing safeguarding checks, and supporting staff onboarding. Alongside this, you will lead the admissions process for Years 7–12, working closely with the Director of Admissions to help prospective families navigate their journey into the school.
This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. You will have regular contact with staff, students, prospective families, external agencies, and other stakeholders—making strong communication skills and a professional, approachable manner essential.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Human Resources
- Supporting the full recruitment cycle, including advertising, shortlisting, references, interview arrangements, and follow‑up administration.
- Leading on pre-employment checks (DBS, right to work, safeguarding, qualifications, employment history).
- Preparing contracts and maintaining accurate staff records, including safeguarding training.
- Managing the Single Central Record to statutory standards.
- Coordinating induction for new staff and supporting appraisal and probation processes.
- Administering HR correspondence and promoting staff wellbeing initiatives, including the annual flu vaccination programme.
Admissions
- Leading the full admissions process for Years 7–12.
- Organising and promoting open events and working collaboratively with primary schools.
- Managing online registrations, testing arrangements, and liaison with external testing providers.
- Coordinating entrance test days, including room allocations, staffing, and SEN adjustments.
- Supporting admission appeals and preparing relevant documentation and data reports.
- Maintaining waiting lists, issuing offers, and communicating effectively with families and the local authority.
- Managing in-year and non-routine admissions and supporting outreach and inclusion initiatives, including the Discover Project.
- Overseeing FOI and Subject Access Requests related to admissions.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
- Has strong organisational and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Is confident working with IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
- Can handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage competing priorities calmly.
- Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
- Is proactive, approachable, and able to build strong working relationships
Prior school or HR experience is beneficial but not essential—we welcome applicants who are eager to learn, grow, and positively contribute to our school community.
In addition to a rewarding and dynamic work environment, we offer an attractive benefits package, including:
- A competitive pension plan.
- Free flu vaccinations.
- Free on-site parking.
- Access to the Blue Light Card, unlocking hundreds of discounts nationwide for just £5.
