HR Officer job summary

We are delighted to advertise an excellent opportunity in our highly successful College for an enthusiastic, passionate and well organised HR Officer to take a leading role supporting the Leadership team in all aspects of people management. This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative and supportive College. We are now part of the St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Multi Academy Trust, the largest multi-academy in the Archdiocese of Birmingham, with a strong Catholic ethos that puts ‘love’ at the heart of its community.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Coordinating the recruitment and onboarding process for teaching and support staff, in line with safer recruitment guidelines.

Managing employee records and ensuring compliance with safeguarding and employment legislation.

Advising on HR policies and procedures, and supporting senior leadership with their consistent application.

Supporting staff performance management processes, including appraisals, absence monitoring and capability procedures.

Liaising with the Central HR team and external HR providers where appropriate.

Overseeing payroll, staff contracts, pay changes and mainlining the Single Central Record (SCR).

Assisting with staff wellbeing initiatives and promoting positive working environment.

Ensuring HR policies and staff handbook are kept up to date and effectively communicated.

We are looking for a motivated and professional individual who can:

  • Take charge of the entire HR function.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Work with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ensure our school site is safe, welcoming and fully compliant with all health and safety and regulatory standards.
  • Be proactive, adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Share our commitment to safeguarding and to the Catholic ethos of the college.

Skills and Qualifications:

Affiliate membership of CIPD/working towards CIPD qualification or equivalent experience

NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant discipline
