This is your opportunity to inherit an established framework of highly effective collaboration and cross-school working. With a foundation already in place, you will continue to build upon this success, driving further improvements and ensuring sustainable excellence across multiple sites.
About the Role
As Executive Head teacher, you will take the lead in the strategic direction of the schools, ensuring each school operates at its very best while working collaboratively towards shared goals. This role has a small teaching commitment of 0.2 and focuses on high-level strategic leadership, requiring someone with a forward-thinking approach and the ability to manage school improvement initiatives across multiple sites.
You will be responsible for the line management of the Lead Teachers/Heads of School, who are the operational heads of the individual schools, empowering them to drive improvements and maintain consistently high standards of teaching and learning.
Additionally, this role provides you with the opportunity to make a real difference across the Trust. You will work closely with the Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust Executive Team to implement strategic initiatives, particularly focused on raising standards in core subjects like Maths and driving shared best practice and economies of scale across the Trust’s 15 primary schools.
Key Responsibilities:

- Drive continuous improvement in the quality of education and student outcomes across multiple sites.
- Collaborate with the Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust Executive Team to develop and monitor strategies for raising standards across all schools.
- Lead strategic initiatives aimed at improving outcomes in core subjects across the Trust’s primary schools.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, shared best practice, and mutual support between schools, ensuring alignment with Trustwide objectives.
- Ensure effective resource management and monitor outcomes to maximise the impact of school improvement across all sites.
- Build strong relationships with staff, parents, and the wider community to promote a positive and inclusive school culture.
About You:
We are looking for a forward-thinking leader who thrives on challenge and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of students and staff alike. You’ll be someone with a proven track record of school improvement and a deep understanding of what it takes to lead across multiple sites.
You will inherit a strong foundation of effective collaboration and cross-school working, and your role will be to build on this solid framework to continue driving improvement and success.
Key qualities we are looking for:
- Proven senior leadership experience in a primary school setting.
- Experience of working across multiple school sites, managing strategic initiatives, and achieving outcomes at scale.
- A deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities of working in small primary schools and the ability to implement effective strategies across diverse settings.
- A passionate commitment to raising standards and improving outcomes for all pupils.
- Expertise in curriculum development, school improvement strategies, and driving improvements in core and wider curriculum subjects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, pupils, and the wider school community.
- A proactive, adaptable, and strategic approach to problem-solving and school leadership.
What We Offer:
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and make a real difference across a highly collaborative network of schools, with many benefits on offer:
- A supportive and dynamic environment, working with a network of dedicated schools within the Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust.
- Professional development opportunities and career progression across all 15 primary schools in the Trust, ensuring continued growth and advancement.
- A strong commitment to staff wellbeing, with a positive and supportive working environment.
