What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious person as a Teacher of Humanities, with any specialism, from September 2023. Humanities sits within the Ebacc faculty. It is an exceptionally upbeat and innovative faculty. It is cohesive, team spirited and very well led. Option choices at GCSE across the faculty are high with all students opting for at least one Ebacc subject and many opting for two.
We are seeking someone who will be ambitious for our students, and has a vision for the development of Humanities in our curriculum. The challenge for the successful applicants will be to contribute to further developing an already strong set of subjects and continue to raise standards at both KS3 and GCSE.
This position would suit an experienced teacher as well as an Early Career Teacher. If an ECT is appointed the role will commence from 1st July 2023.
For the successful candidate, a commitment to raising standards and a passion for developing young adults is essential: this entails a commitment to all learners, to excellence for all, and a belief that a good school makes a significant difference to learners’ life chances, levels of attainment and the wellbeing of the community as a whole
What the school offers its staff
The
Ebacc faculty encompasses Geography, History, RE, Spanish and French and is a
leading faculty across both campuses. The Achievement Leader of Ebacc is also an Assistant Headteacher, he is
talented, enthusiastic, approachable and highly supportive. He works with the
faculty to promote collaborative planning, enhance teaching and learning and to
drive up standards of achievement and attainment.
The faculty comprises an Assistant Headteacher and a newly appointed Achievement Leader working with three Assistant Achievement Leaders, and 10 main scale teachers. They are a cohesive team and have a strong command of their subject. Ebacc subjects are really enjoyed by students and their extra -curricular opportunities. The Ebacc faculty is housed in 7 classrooms on each campus. All students are taught Geography, History, RE and MFL at KS3 and all students opt for at least one of those at KS4. Results in the faculty have been on an upward trajectory, with outstanding GCSE results in Spanish and MFL with students in those subjects both making positive progress. Results in Geography have improved year on year with 70% of students gaining a grade 4 or higher, however History results still require improvement.
Commitment to safeguarding
Crestwood Community School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

Crestwood Community School is one school, with two campuses serving central Eastleigh. Crestwood Community School had an Ofsted inspection in June 2018, which confirmed that we are a ‘good’ school. We also achieved outstanding gradings in Personal Development and Behaviour and Leadership. They also said that as a school we are “passionately committed to providing a first-class inclusive education for all pupils; tenacious in their pursuit of additional resources and approaches to continually improve provision.” This is a happy school, where staff and students want to be. The #Crestwoodfamily pervades through everything we do.
