Inclusion Assistant job summary
Inclusion Assistant - We are seeking an Inclusion Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with special educational needs within a KS1 classroom setting.
The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting children with additional needs, be flexible in their approach, and work well as part of a team. They will provide a bespoke curriculum for the child and will be guided and supported by the class teacher and SENDCo.
They will have experience of working with children who have special educational needs, particularly in using specific SEND and behaviour strategies in the classroom and around school to support all children to make academic, social and emotional progress. Experience of working with children in a specialist setting would be desirable.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Assist the class teacher and wider team in engaging the child with the curriculum
Support this child, and others where appropriate, with their daily routine, learning, emotions, behaviour, social interactions, self-care activities or other aspects of school or home life
Establish supportive, caring, secure and trusting relationships with children
Continue to develop knowledge of a range of learning, well-being, communication and interaction approaches and strategies used in the classroom
Under the guidance of the class teacher/SENDCo, plan, devise and implement appropriate programmes to support children with Special Educational Needs (for example using visual aids, social stories, intensive interaction approaches, Attention Autism Bucket approaches, attachment theory approaches, nurture/trauma-informed approaches, PACE (Hughes, D), approaches)
Assist in creating, developing and producing resources for use in the classroom
Under the guidance of the class teacher/SENDCo, work with external agencies to plan and deliver provision for children with a high level of need
Under the guidance of the class teacher/SENDCo, communicate effectively and collaborate with parents / carers.
FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED:
Special Educational Needs Experience (Highly Desirable)
Level 3 Teaching Assistant/ Practitioner (Highly Desirable)
School based references from the last 2 years (Desirable)
A DBS on the update service or happy to complete a new one
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above
Previous experience working with children
A proven ability to work on their own initiative
High-level communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults
The ability to use relevant technology/equipment
A positive, can-do attitude
Flexibility and a team-focused approach
Hours
The role is term-time only (38 weeks per year)
31.25 hours per week, 08:40 - 15:40, Monday to Friday
Salary - dependent on experience
PS4 - Fully time equivalent (FTE) Range £25,246 - £27,033
31.25 hours per week, 38 weeks per year, £18,370 - £20,026 per annum Pro Rata
Or
PS5 - Fully time equivalent (FTE) Range £27,849 - £29,834
31.25 hours per week, 38 weeks per year, £20,263 - £22,100 per annum Pro Rata
