We particularly welcome applications from fully or partially qualified SENDCos. The successful applicant will:

  • hold the NASENCO or NPQ for Special Education Needs Co-ordinators
  • have a strong understanding of the SEND code of Practice
  • have knowledge of Pupil Premium funding and provision
  • have experience of working with other agencies, including liaison with Social Services
  • embrace and encourage innovation
  • demonstrate a commitment to inclusive education and achieving the best outcomes for pupils with SEND
  • have an awareness of local and national developments which may impact on policy and practice
  • be calm and focused with a resolution-focused approach
  • be able to motivate, support and inspire learners, members of staff and our wider community

About us

North Heath Community Primary School are seeking to appoint a passionate Inclusion Leader to promote our vision for every child to thrive. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join our supportive staff team and help shape provision for all the pupils within our school community.

You will have a lead role for the day-to-day management of provision for pupils with SEND, those in receipt of Pupil Premium and other vulnerable or minority groups. You will liaise with staff, parents and external agencies to provide effective support for pupils with SEND.

About the role

The Inclusion Lead, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and under the direction of the Headteacher, will:

  • Determine the strategic development of special educational needs and disability (SEND) policy and provision in the school
  • Determine the strategic direction of Pupil Premium, disadvantaged pupils and other minority group provision in the school
  • Fulfil the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead including any liaison with external agencies linked to this role
  • Fulfil the role of Mental Health First Aider for North Heath
  • Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability ensuring provision of professional guidance to colleagues and working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
  • Share in the corporate responsibility for the development, well-being and discipline of all pupils.

When necessary, carry out the duties of a teacher as set out in paragraphs of the current School Teachers Pay/Condition document
