Inclusion Manager - SENCo job summary
We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic professional to join the team at Prendergast Vale School in January 2020. The postholder will assist the Headteacher with the strategic development of SEND policy and provision. In consultation with external agencies, the SENCo identifies and meets the needs of children with special educational needs, whilst ensuring the systems are co-ordinated, evaluated and regularly reviewed.
The post holder will review targets and support plans with parents, children, colleagues and relevant outside agencies in order to agree and communicate targets and help children achieve their maximum potential. Previous experience in a similar role or attainment of the National Award for SEN Co-ordination (or equivalent) would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will:
• have the ability to lead and inspire staff and students;
• be up-to-date knowledge on government legislation and SEND initiatives;
• be passionate about providing the right support for all students;
• be accountable for student progress;
• show good understanding and use of data to monitor progress, identify under performance and set appropriate interventions;
• have the ability to inspire, engage and create innovative learning opportunities across EYFS and KS1 to KS4;
• be an excellent practitioner;
• have an absolute commitment to inclusive education;
• love a challenge;
• have excellent inter-personal skills;
• be responsible for creating an exciting learning environment.
Prendergast Vale School is a small all-through school providing high quality education from nursery to Year 11 that aims to transform the lives of all the children who attend the school. By keeping the school small, we have created a community of pupils and teachers where no pupil is left behind, which has enabled us to create an environment in which pupils want to learn, achieve and behave well.
