32.5 hours per week: 08.30 hrs - 15.30 hrs
Scale Level 2A (NJC)
Term Time Only and 5 Training Days per academic year
Fixed Term Contract: 01.09.2025 - 31.08.2026

🌟 Role: Inclusion, Pastoral and Emotional Behaviour Support Assistant
Purpose of the Role:
To support the emotional, behavioural, and educational needs of pupils—particularly those with SEND, SEMH, or experiencing dysregulation—while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The role also includes working collaboratively with families and staff to ensure consistent, trauma-informed, and relationship-based support.
Key Responsibilities:
🔹 Emotional & Behavioural Support
- Provide targeted one-to-one or small group interventions for pupils struggling with emotional regulation, anxiety, trauma, or behavioural challenges.
- Support pupils in crisis using de-escalation techniques, sensory regulation tools, and co-regulation strategies.
- Assist in the implementation of personalised behaviour support plans and emotional regulation programs (e.g., Zones of Regulation, ELSA, Trauma-Informed Practice).
🔹 Inclusion & SEND
- Support pupils with a range of SEND (including Autism, ADHD, Attachment Needs, and Speech/Language Difficulties) to access learning and feel included in school life.
- Work alongside the SENDCo and teaching staff to adapt learning activities and promote accessibility.
- Foster a sense of belonging and help reduce exclusion or isolation of vulnerable pupils.
🔹 Pastoral & Safeguarding Support
- Act as a trusted adult and key worker for identified pupils, building positive relationships that promote safety, self-worth, and resilience.
- Monitor pupil wellbeing and promptly report safeguarding concerns in line with school policy.
- Contribute to multi-agency meetings (e.g. CDC, EHCP reviews, Early Help, CAMHS) where appropriate.
🔹 Family and Staff Collaboration
- Support communication with families, building trust and helping them to engage with school systems and support plans.
- Offer advice and updates to class teachers and staff about strategies that are working well with individual pupils.
- Provide emotional containment and support for staff managing challenging behaviour or distressed pupils.
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Strong understanding of SEMH, SEND, and inclusion practices.
- Empathetic, calm, and resilient approach, especially under pressure.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with children, families, and staff.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and attachment-aware practices.
- Ability to use initiative while working collaboratively as part of a team.
Desirable Qualifications or Training (if applicable):
- ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) training
- Mental Health First Aid or Youth MHFA
- Thrive, Trauma-Informed Schools, or similar SEMH framework
- Safeguarding Level 2 or higher
