Joseph Norton Academy in Huddersfield is a special academy educating children and young people with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties across Kirklees. With our new school underway in Deighton we are recruiting ready for our growth. We are recruiting ahead of a significant expansion that will see the school move from Scissett to Deighton an exciting time to be joining us.

As an Inclusion Support Worker at this school in Huddersfield, you will offer more than classroom support. You will play a crucial role in supporting students with SEMH needs by making connections, developing relationships and helping our pupils navigate the path to a better future. You will provide tailored support to students on a 1:1 or small group basis, working alongside teachers and other staff to create an inclusive and nurturing environment. Other duties will include:

  • Getting the classroom ready for lessons
  • Supporting the pupils in class
  • Helping those who need extra support
  • Completing pupils records
  • Taking the lead on specific activities and sessions
  • Providing learning routines at school, in the community and in the family home
  • Implement strategies/ use interventions to help students manage challenging behaviour

THE CANDIDATE

  • Experience in a school or similar setting
  • IDEALLY experience working with children/ young people with SEN / SEMH needs
  • A patient, empathetic and proactive approach to supporting students
  • Educated with GCSE Math's and English or equivalent
  • Car driver with access to own vehicle

SALARY/ HOURS
Starting salary for a ISW Inclusion Support Worker (Grade 7) is £22,604 actual annual salary (FTE = £29,540) working 32.5 hours per week Mon-Fri term time only + 5 inset days + amazing benefits working for our Wellspring trust
Working hours are 8.50am - 3.30pm (accept Tues & Thurs till 4.30pm for CPD and Friday 3.10pm)
