Joseph Norton Academy in Huddersfield is a special academy educating children and young people with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties across Kirklees. As part of Wellspring Multi Academy Trust, Joseph Norton Academy is the only special school in Kirklees catering for pupils with severe and complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH). Joseph Norton Academy is the same as any other school in that we have high expectations of our pupils; build a secure and happy atmosphere in which pupils can learn effectively; offer a broad range of subjects and qualifications, including GCSEs. However, we are different to other schools in that we organise our pupils into nurture groups; structure our day and our curriculum to support pupils with SEMH difficulties and employ specialist staff to support the special educational needs of our pupils. As part of this specialist team, Inclusion Support Workers play an important role in helping to create a stimulating, safe and structured environment in which our pupils can realise their potential.
As an Inclusion Support Worker ISW at this school in Huddersfield, you will offer more than classroom support. You will make connections, develop relationships and help our pupils navigate the path to a better future. This includes:
- Getting the classroom ready for lessons
- Supporting the pupils in class
- Helping those who need extra support
- Completing pupils records
- Taking the lead on specific activities and sessions
- Providing learning routines at school, in the community and in the family home
THE CANDIDATE
- Experience in a school or similar setting
- IDEALLY experience working with children/ young people with SEN / SEMH needs
- Educated with GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
- Car driver with access to own vehicle OR willingness to learn (salary reflective of this)
SALARY/ HOURS
Starting Salary for a ISW Inclusion Support Worker is £21,903.70 actual annual salary working 32.5 hours per week Mon-Fri term time only + 5 inset days + amazing benefits working for our Wellspring trust which can be found on the trust website www.wellspringacademytrust.co.uk/careers
