Inclusion Support Worker job summary

We are looking to recruit a resilient Inclusion Support Worker. This role is instrumental in the day-to-day support of student conduct around the school and through our behaviour systems including "on patrol", daily after school detentions and supervising students. You will be expected to support the SEMH pupil progress in the school through the delivery of THRIVE 1-2-1 and small group interventions.

The main responsibilities of this role are as follows:

    • To provide direct support for an identified group of students and where appropriate their parents/carers with the aim of reducing truancy and exclusion and promoting achievement.
    • To support school behaviour management during break time and allocated ‘on patrol’ duties and throughout the day.
    • To support the supervision of students during break and lunch times
    • To support the Pastoral Team in managing behaviour, being on hand to support throughout the day across all year groups.

    The successful applicant will be passionate about transforming the lives of young people and bring with them an abundance of enthusiasm which can encourage engagement and commitment from our students. Whilst experience is not necessary, you must have a good standard of literacy, be adaptable, resilient and willing to be involved in all aspects of school life, have a calm manner and be able to work as part of a team.

    You will enjoy nurturing young people to help them grow in confidence and flourish personally. You will share our inclusive values of “opportunity, diversity and success for all”. In return, you will be joining our team of tenacious, optimistic and talented support staff, who have the support of an experienced leadership team Hamilton School is an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Special School in Reading educating up to 64 students with Education, Health Care Plans (EHCP). Our mission is to recognise each and every one of our students as individuals, and to nurture their potential, developing the whole child through a therapeutic approach. This means that you would have to be a resilient character who is able to remain positive when dealing with challenging behaviour. The school is proud to have recently opened its doors to a state-of-the-art building with wonderful new facilities for both pupils and staff.
