What skills and experience we're looking for
International Air & Space Training Institutes (IASTI®) Trainers will be a blend of industry professionals, trainers, teachers and mentors. Due to the way that the courses have been designed to embed industry training into educational training programmes and the way that the courses introduce live industry training on relevant and modern industry aircraft and equipment, individuals will need to be able to cover all angles of training and teaching.
LDE UTC is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hardworking individual to join our IASTI team.
The IASTI Teacher will provide effective teaching and delivery within the College to include the effective deployment of subjects and assignments, where appropriate.
The hours of work are 8am – 5pm.
What the school offers its staff
We have introduced a staff wellbeing committee (SMILE), introduced fresh fruit Wednesdays and provide free milk, tea and coffee daily as well as a healthy free lunch. Additionally, we offer all staff from day one, an opportunity to apply for flexible working and dependant on the role, staff are able to work from home for 20% of the working week. We also offer initiatives such as the Cycle2Work scheme and Employee Assistance Programme to further support staff wellbeing. We have also implemented a 4.5 day timetable for learners, creating 54% learner contact time and 46% of the working week for PPA and CPL. 10 of the 190 days for our learners are ‘flipped learning days’ allowing further time for CPL and PPA for teachers. Please click our benefits documents in the advert to find out about all the other staff benefits we offer.
Further details about the role
IASTI are a brand-new initiative designed to educate and train the next generation of aviation professionals.
IASTIs are focusing initially on training future aircraft engineers, ground dispatchers and pilots from age 16 and, through partners, continue their training through and including higher education until employment in the industry in the roles that they have been trained for. Space roles are also being added to the Pathways for each area as the new space industry grows and the need for space engineers, spaceport dispatchers and astronauts grows.
Commitment to safeguarding
All appointments are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check. LDE UTC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
