Intervention and Inclusion Specialist job summary
We are delighted to be seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and confident Intervention and Inclusion specialist to join our friendly team at Laurus Grace. This is a key role within the school, where you will provide targeted intervention and support to students who struggle to manage their behaviour and/or approach to learning in class.
Laurus Grace is an Alternative Provision 11-16 Free School offering specialist provision for students with Social Communication and/or Social, Emotional, Emotion and/or Mental Health (SEMH) needs. When full, it will provide a high-quality educational provision for 80 students. We take an innovative approach to supporting students in their educational and personal development underpinning by the concept of unconditional positive regard. We follow the outstanding provision within our mainstream Trust secondary schools, to develop a high quality and ambitious curriculum offer to our students that aligns with our Trust Vision. Our ethos is built upon unconditional positive regard with the academic curriculum enriched through a restorative curriculum.

This position is contracted on a 37 hours per week + 5 days Term Time Only basis. This means you will mainly work when the school is open to pupils and will not need to work during the school holidays unless the contract requires you to do so.
Job Purpose
- To work collaboratively with pastoral teams and external agencies across the school, to meet the needs of these students, whilst also mitigating the impact that they have on the learning and progress of others within the classroom environment.
- To provide in class, one to one and small group support to students, as well as additional off timetable time to work alongside staff, parents and students to ensure that the needs of students with behaviour difficulties and/or SEND are met.
Key Skills & Experience
- Sound educational background including GCSE’s in Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent
- Experience of working with young people who are vulnerable and/or who have special educational needs
- An understanding of safeguarding issues

Laurus Grace is an Alternative Provision 11-16 Free School offering specialist provision for students with Communication and/or Interaction needs and Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
When full, Laurus Grace will provide a high-quality educational provision for 80 students. We plan to admit our first cohort of students in September 2024 within temporary accommodation to address the shortage of specialist places in Stockport Local Authority. We will move towards our full cohort of students when the new building is completed and occupied by the school.
We will build upon the outstanding provision within our mainstream Trust secondary schools, to develop a high quality and ambitious curriculum offer to our students that aligns with our Trust Vision. We believe that students who have experienced setbacks within mainstream education deserve the same educational offer as their peers. This will be realised within a specialist provision through two curriculum strands:
Academic Curriculum
Our outstanding teachers and support staff will offer an ambitious core and optional academic curriculum including GCSE qualifications.
Restorative Curriculum
Our specialist and pastoral staff will offer a therapeutic-style curriculum, to develop social and emotional aspects of learning and promote positive mental health.
