What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you an enthusiastic teacher looking for a school where you will be supported, developed and genuinely valued?

At Lightwoods Primary Academy, we are proud to offer an environment where teachers grow in confidence, skill and ambition — supported by an experienced, collaborative team and exceptional professional development opportunities.

Lightwoods Primary Academy is part of the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust providing staff with opportunities to progress both within the school and across the Trust.

We are an innovative and dynamic two-form entry school on the border of Oldbury and Birmingham. Our values of self-awareness, collaboration, resilience, excellence and warmth resonate through our school.

Our school was judged as outstanding by Ofsted in 3 areas in 2024: behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management. Ofsted stated that, ‘pupils excel here.’

We are looking for a passionate and creative teacher who can inspire and lead others, works well within a team and who will help us on our journey to provide exceptional provision for all pupils and their families.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience teaching in KS1 or KS2.
  • Be looking for the first or next step in their career.
  • Be a consistently good/exceptional teacher with high expectations of both learning and behaviour.
  • Able to inspire, motivate and enthuse pupils, delivering amazing outcomes.
  • Committed to raising standards for all and share the same drive to constantly learn and improve.
  • Show willingness to lead initiatives, track and show evidence of impact.
  • Demonstrate a passion to make a difference to others.
  • To be interested in and proficient with the use of technology for learning and willingness to innovate using technology in the classroom.

What the school offers its staff

In return we will offer:

  • Opportunities across our school and Trust to enhance skills and experience at both primary and secondary level.
  • Excellent career development opportunities.
  • Exceptional CPD provision includes access to regional, national and international experts in their field.
  • A technology-rich environment which allows staff to be innovative in harnessing technology for learning.
  • The chance to be part of an ‘Outstanding’ school with an amazing building with unique facilities and a wonderful team.

So, if you are passionate about making a difference, eager to learn and excited by the possibilities of technology-enhanced teaching, this could be the perfect place to begin — or continue — your teaching journey. Come and join the family!
