What skills and experience we're looking for

Do you have experience in overseeing pupil achievement and progress? We are currently looking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Class Teacher to join us as KS2 Phase Leader.

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent)
  • A proven track record of recent and successful class teaching in mixed ability classes of primary age
  • Successful experience of teaching the primary curriculum
  • Good understanding of current theory and best practice in teaching and learning, particularly as it relates to achieving high rates of progress of children of primary age
  • Good subject knowledge of core National Curriculum


What the school offers its staff

Harris Primary Academy Purley Way has been open since 2016 and is Ofsted rated Outstanding in all areas. At full capacity there will be 21 classes from Reception to Year 6. We opened with a Reception cohort and are growing by a year group at a time with currently over 350 pupils on roll from Reception to Year 5. The purpose of your role will be:

  • To be an exemplary classroom practitioner
  • To work with staff and to support them to achieve targets
  • To analyse and interpret data to identify appropriate improvement strategies and so ensure challenging targets are set and achieved
  • To pro-actively ensure appropriate intervention strategies are put in place when needed
  • To provide targeted professional development and interventions
  • To coach and mentor the team working in the phase and contribute to performance management

Harris Primary Academy Purley Way opened in 2016 with its first cohort of Reception children and their families, and now educates children from Reception to Year 2. Since 2017, the academy has been based in purpose built, three storey building, with state of the art technology and resources and facilities to support the school on its journey to Outstanding. Harris Primary Academy Purley Way will grow year on year to provide classes from Reception to Year 6 and offer three forms of entry by 2022.
