Key Stage 2 Level 3 Teaching Assistant and Higher Level Teaching Assistant

St Matthew’s Primary and Nursery Academy, Derriford

Contract Term: Fixed term until 31st August 2027

Hours: TA - 22.5 hours per week

HLTA - 5 hours per week

Salary: TA - GradeSC3 NJC points 8 - 11 Actual Starting Salary £14,558 (FTE £ 27,709)

HLTA - Grade SC5 NJC points 12 - 17 actual starting salary £3,449 (FTE £ 29,541)

Term Time only: 39 weeks per annum

Annual Leave: Taken outside of term time and paid pro-rata throughout the year (no annual leave to be taken during term time)

Benefits: Local Government Pension Scheme

We are on the lookout for an experienced Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant & Higher Level Teaching Assistant to:

  • Provide vital classroom support and contribute to an engaging learning environment.
  • Offer 1:1 assistance to pupils, empowering them to overcome challenges and achieve their best.
  • Support teachers in delivering outstanding lessons and creating positive outcomes.
  • As HLTA, provide whole class PPA cover across the school.
  • Help maintain a happy and safe playground during break and lunch times.

We’re seeking someone who:

  • Brings patience, calmness, and positivity to every situation.
  • Is passionate about helping young people flourish and reach their full potential.
  • Ideally has prior experience of teaching whole class groups and can communicate effectively with both children and adults.
