ABOUT US Springwell Learning Community is the umbrella name for Springwell Special Academy and Springwell Alternative Academy. Springwell Special Academy provides cross-phase education for Barnsley children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties SEMH. This position is based at the Alternative Academy in Kendray which works in partnership with the local authority and our local primary and secondary schools to provide Day 6 provision. THE ROLEWe are looking for a Part Time KS3 Instructor with creativity and resilience to join us on our journey. In return for your passion and commitment we can offer outstanding professional development, supportive colleagues and a welcoming environment that prioritises your workload and wellbeing. As an instructor you will lead small classes of pupils, developing and delivering personalised packages of interventions that support their emotional and academic development. This will include classroom and outdoor learning plus sporting activities in and out of the classroom and within the community.

As our Instructor you will take the lead in the coordination, design and delivery of activities to support children in our special school both on and off site in a wide range of areas including core subjects such as English and Math's alongside wider subject areas such as History and Duke of Edinburgh . You will be working as part of Key Stage 3 alongside an experienced team. You will work with a variety of organisations and establish appropriate networks to ensure safe and effective provisions at a range of settings. We guarantee that no two days will be the same and you will have lots of fun!

THE CANDIDATE

  • Experience in a school or similar setting

  • IDEALLY experience working with children/ young people with SEN / SEMH needs

  • MUST be educated with GCSE Math's and English

  • A-Level or relevant L3 qualification

  • Car driver with access to vehicle and business insurance

SALARY/ HOURS Starting salary for this Part Time KS3 Instructor role is £30,731 FTE for this FTC maternity cover role part time equates to circa £15,365 actual annual salary working 18.5 hrs p/w (2.5 days Mon-Wed) term time only + inset days + amazing benefits working for our Wellspring trust This role is working 2.5 days per week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday AM and is based at our Alternative Academy in Kendray. Fixed Term contract to start New Year 2026 until Dec 2026.
